Monthly Goals (October)

Hello everyone and welcome to the most wonderful month of them all!

It’s October!

I feel like I spend all year waiting for this month to roll around and when it does I’m as busy as a bee. Not only does October bring the Renaissance Faire, Pumpkin Patches, and Halloween Festivities, it also kicks of Preptober. Unfortunately this pandemic has stolen a majority of Autumn’s delights but that means there’s more time to dedicate to preparing for November.

There will be more information about Preptober to come in a later post. Actually there will be more posts than usual this month in order to gear up for NaNoWriMo. First and foremost though we need to go over the goals from September before we can lay the ground work for October.

Just a reminder, the goals from last month were....

Write 20,000 words 💚

As I’m sure you’re aware, I usually come up short on this particular goal. I gave myself a lower word count to achieve and it definitely worked. The word count for my Pirate Story now stands at 60.000.

Read 5 books 💚

I wasn’t too concerned about this goal seeing as I was eager to read every book on my TBR for the month. It still felt great to accomplish this though.

Get a Library card ❤️

And again I have failed at this most simple of tasks. Unfortunately the library is only open on certain days and it just so happened that my husband never had any of said days off. I’m putting this goal off for now but I’m hoping by December I’ll be able to accomplish it.

Complete Requests ❤️

I definitely wasn’t able to complete this goal but I was able to get all remaining requests outlined. A small victory but a loss nonetheless.

Exercise five times a week 🧡

I didn’t exercise five times a week but I was pretty solid on three times which is what I’ll most likely alter my goal to. Still it was nice to get my body moving and I also managed to find a good diet plan as well.

Now it’s time to move onto the reason we’re all here.

Autumn Quarter (September - November)

October Goals

Create Preptober checklist

Technically I’ve already accomplished this goal but it’s the first step in getting things going this month so it only made sense to include it.

Finish everything on Preptober checklist

This one goal is essentially many goals wrapped into one extensive list to accomplish before November 1st. I’m very type A so this list is how I make it through and this NaNoWriMo is unlike any other I’ve done before so that makes the list that much more important.

Read 4 books

In between all the prepping I’ll be doing I’ll be using reading as my way to unwind from it all. In case you’re curious, the books I’ve got lined up for this month are:

The Witches Key

Rise of the Ringmaster

Sacrifice Me - The Demon

The Tower

Exercise 3 times a week

While reading will help keep my mind in balance, exercising will help my body to do the same thing. I learned last month that five times was a ridiculous idea so I’m aiming for three times this month.

Complete Requests

With all remaining requests outlined, completing this task should be a lot easier this month.

And there you have it. I know it’s five seemingly simple things however, my Preptober checklist (which will be posted right after this) is going to require a lot of attention. I’m eager to hit the ground running this month and hopefully finish ahead of schedule.

Until next week!

✿ Happy reading and writing to all and to all a good day ✿
