Writer To Writer

Hello and a very happy Friday to you all!!

The countdown is on! We have three days until Preptober begins meaning there is only a month and three days until the attack of NaNoWriMo.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve been battling with some mixture of nerves and excitement. In trying to get pumped up for the next two months, I wanted to share some tips with you.

Use Preptober to your advantage

Regardless of whether you’re a plotter or a pantser you can utilize Preptober. If you happen to be a pantser you can take the month to do as much relaxing as possible for come November your brain will be working in overdrive. As for you plotters out there, well Preptober is a special little gift for us. It allows you to prepare everything from outlines, research, character sheets, NaNo survival kit, meals, rewards, and ways not to lose your mind in November. That last one is very important. So whichever side you stand on, don’t let Preptober pass you by.

Now is the time to nail down your story idea

One of the hardest things to do this time of year is to figure out which story, out of the hundreds floating around in your wonderful mind, you want to work on. Listen to both your heart and your mind when making your decision because you want something you’re passionate about but you also want something that you can actually make a story out of.

Read! Read as much as you possibly can

Behind every great writer is a great reader. Reading can open up your imagination and give you ideas or scenes you would have never considered before. On top of that there are craft books that can help you hone your skill. But most of all reading is just a great way to unwind and enjoy yourself.

Remember to set time aside for yourself before NaNoWriMo begins

The most important thing you can do regardless of what month it is, is take care of yourself. Working is important but you have to remember to take care of yourself. Setting aside time for yourself isn’t as hard as it might seem and you’ll be so much happier for it.

Try not to stress yourself out too much, this coming from the stress queen. The better prepared you are the smoother NaNoWriMo will go.

Until next week my lovelies!

~*~ Happy reading and writing to all and to all a good day ~*~
