Hello and a very merry Friday to you!
Last week I put out my March goals which happened to include some reading and seeing as I’ve already finished one of those books it’s review time.
This series was recommended to me by my Wendy-in-law. Admittedly I was a bit reluctant to try it out as I can be picky when it comes to books but after nearly three months I have finally given in and oh how happy I am that I did so.
Green Rider is the first book in the Green Rider series by Kristen Britain. It is a forty-one chapter fantasy book that follows the adventure of Karigan G’ladheon as she faces trial after trial in order to deliver a message to the king of Sacoridia.
I can honestly say that I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did. There is rarely a dull moment throughout the entire thing and it all leaves you wanting for more. Everything from a simple description of a setting or character to thoughts or dialogue adds to the story and not a single sentence is left feeling unnecessary. Even the smallest of details leaves you wondering how it will come into play later on.
It would be hard to say which part of the book was my favorite although choosing a favorite character is easy. Condor, otherwise known as the horse, was hands down my favorite character but of course next in line would be Karigan herself.
If I come across a bit too enthusiastic about this book that’s because I haven’t read a book that’s captured me like this since last April when I read The Savior’s Champion by Jenna Moreci and it’s an all around amazing to be engrossed in a book once more. I just finished this book Sunday and started First Rider’s Call, the second book in the series, so the excitement is still fresh and I think that clearly shows. I might do a follow-up review and go through it better later on. Regardless I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fantasy adventure that holds just a dash of subtle romance.
Needless to say, I’m quite eager to get on with the rest of the series.
* Happy reading and writing to all and to all a good day *
