The Ultimate Book Tag

Hello and welcome welcome on this chilly Friday!

In my attempt to make December as fun and carefree as possible the journey has lead me down the path of writing tags. Besides, after spending all of November trying to pump out as many words as possible and the moment that’s over the holiday stress takes over, it’s nice to sit down and relax a little. Today I give you one of those reading tags I’ve stumbled across, so properly named The Ultimate Book Tag and can be found on Wattpad by DarkChickie (https://www.wattpad.com/13018384-book-tags-the-ultimate-book-tag).

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?

Luckily no. I have taken many of road trips in which reading was always one of the fastest ways of passing the time. My biggest issue with reading in the car was always not bringing enough books but with my iPad (which has apps for iBooks, NOOK, Kindle, and Audible) I no longer run into that problem.

2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

I think every author’s writing style is unique so I can’t really say.

3. Harry Potter series or the Twilight sage? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

Harry Potter without a doubt (sorry 14/15 year old me).

* There are more books

* The plot is far more enticing

* The character growth is better

* The world is better

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so what’s in it (besides books)?

I do not carry a book bag but I have a large purse. Inside of it I carry my iPad (my traveling library), my keyboard because I never know when I’m going to do some writing, headphones for music or audiobooks, a notebook, a sharpie, two pens, two bottles of medicine (holding aspirin and my seizure medication), gum, my keys, candy, crackers or something more filling, lady things, my drink, hand sanitizer, tissues, and the latest edition, a mask. My friends say I have a grandmother’s purse, others claim I am Mary Poppins.

5. Do you smell your books?

Gods yes! I can’t read physical books anymore but I absolutely love smelling them, it gives me bittersweet feelings. I’m looking into getting a book scented candle for when I’m reading.

6. Books with or without little illustrations?

It doesn’t matter to me so long as everything looks good in ebook format. I still have children’s books on my NOOK from when my siblings were younger and those were just fine.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later that it wasn’t quality writing?

Unless we count fanfiction I can’t think of any. Of course there have been books with poor grammar but I’ve learned to look past it in favor of enjoying the book.

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

I have a few stories although I don’t think they’re funny. I’ll share them anyways.

Before each road trip my parents would take me to the store and let me pick out a few books just so I would stay quiet during the trip. I used to talk a lot as a child and it drove them crazy when trapped in a car with me for hours.

In middle school I was big into manga, specifically Fruits Basket (it’s still one of my favorite stories). I managed to fit about twelve volumes in my denim purse and would walk around with them in purse, pulling them out periodically for my friends and I to read.

Last one. In middle school my friends and I were big into anime (still love anime lol), a lot of us were big readers as well so when one of us was doing something annoying or stupid we would hit each other over the head with the spine of whatever book we were holding.

9. What is the thinnest book on your shelf?

Any of the, The Chronicles of Narnia collection. I think those are the thinnest books I’ve ever owned but still some of my favorites.

10. What is the thickest book on your shelf?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Those are just by the books on my physical book shelf, those don’t include my digital collection.

11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future being an author?

Yes I do write as well as read and I most definitely see myself being an author some day. Hopefully that dream will be made a reality in the next year.

12. When did you get into reading?

I first got into reading when I was four. My mother was teaching me to read before I went to school and had set up the Hooked on Phonics stuff in the living room. It was love at first page.

I have a funny story about that though.

One night I was doing my reading and had just started a new book “Moby Dick”, when my mother said dinner was ready and it was time to stop reading. I threw a temper tantrum because I didn’t want to stop reading.

I feel the need to explain that the reason I as a four year old was reading “Moby Dick” was because I was using the Hooked on Phonics system my grandfather had used to learn to read. Thanks to that I always had advanced reading in school.

13. What is your favorite classic book?

I know it’s quite cliche but I love Romeo and Juliet though the Odyssey is high up there as well.

14. In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?

Yes it was, it was the one subject I knew I never had to worry about. My second best subject was History so that might explain why I love Historical Fiction.

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated...what would you do?

I would thank whoever gave it to me with a smile then place the book on my bookshelf. It isn’t as though I have to read the book again and it’s just another book to add to my collection. The person who gave it to me put a lot of thought into the gift so there’s no need to be rude.

16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?

The Dragonian Series by Adrienne Woods is a lot like Harry Potter. At first the similarities can be a little frustrating but then you just learn to laugh at it and enjoy the story. It is a great story about dragons. I highly recommend it.

17. What is a bad habit you always do (besides rambling) while filming?

I tried my hand at YouTube a while ago but my glossophobia stopped that before it got too far. I don’t think I had any bad habits while filming simply because I had a script for everything in attempt to control the anxiety filming brought on.

18. What is your favorite word?

I don’t think I have a favorite word. Though I’m sure if you asked my friends or family they would say my favorite word is damn.

19. Are you a nerd, dork, or dweeb? Or all of the above?

I think I’m more of a combination of nerd and geek even though geek wasn’t one of the options.

20. Vampires or Fairies?

Vampires

21. Shapeshifters or Angels?

Shapeshifters

22. Spirits or Werewolves?

Spirits

23. Zombies or Vampires?

Vampires

24. Love Triangle or Forbidden Love?

Forbidden Love

25. AND FINALLY: Full on romance books or action packed with a few love scenes mixed in?

If I’m unable to alter the options at all then I’m going action pack with a few love scenes although I prefer an even balance of romance and action.

And there you have it folks. As usual this was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be. There’s one more week left before the last post of the year, I’ve saved both the best book review and best tag for last and I can’t wait to share it with you all.

Until nest week!

📚 Happy reading and writing to all and to all a good day 📚
